The Trustees of The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia are pleased to announce this year’s recipients of The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia Distinguished Scholar Awards in the United States of America and Canada:

Dr Kristen Nunn, Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center of the US Veteran’s Administrative Health System in Pittsburgh

“I am honored to have been selected as a recipient of The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia Distinguished Scholar Award. My work centers on improving rehabilitation outcomes for individuals with aphasia, with particular attention to Spanish monolingual and bilingual speakers. I value being part of a community committed to advancing research that aims to better meet the needs of those affected by aphasia.”  Dr Yina Quique, University of New Mexico

Dr Carla Tierney-Hendricks, Harvard Medical School and Spaulding Rehabilitation Outcome Center.

“Receiving The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia Distinguished Scholar Award is a tremendous honor. As a former medical speech-language pathologist, I have always been motivated by a simple goal: helping people with neurogenic communication disorders, including aphasia, communicate successfully in their everyday lives. It is especially meaningful to receive recognition from an organization that shares this commitment to participation, quality of life, and real-world communication. I am deeply grateful to The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia for supporting this vision and for encouraging the next generation of aphasia research.”   Dr Eun Jin Paek, University of Tennessee

“Receiving The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia Distinguished Scholar Award is truly an honor. This recognition reflects my continued commitment to pursue research that directly supports the lives of people with aphasia and train the next generation of aphasiologists (researchers and clinicians) in person-centered care.”  Dr Nichol Castro, University at Buffalo
