Recipients for 2024
Receiving the Tavistock award has been an incredible honour. It has not only given recognition to my work, but also reaffirmed my commitment to continue to push the boundaries of aphasia research. Dr Suma Devanga, Rush University Medical Center, Chicago
The award has been impactful to me in several ways, but mostly in its capacity to open doors and build alliances with other aphasia researchers and practice leaders. As an awardee, I had the opportunity to meet individually with a TTA Trustee, which led to an introduction to an aphasiologist who runs a “trailblazing” aphasia center in the UK. I have plans to visit this innovative center shortly; I look forward to learning more from others who share similar research and practice goals, and potential opportunities to collaborate with others outside my current network. I am truly grateful to the TTA for their support and the recognition afforded by the award in making these next steps possible. Dr Elizabeth Hoover, Boston University Sargent College
I am deeply honoured and grateful to have received the prestigious Tavistock Trust for Aphasia Distinguished Scholars Award. Receiving this award opens doors to new opportunities for me, my students, and those who participate in my research. It means so much to be recognized in the greater aphasia community and have the chance to promote my work and connect with others who share the same goals of improving communication and life participation for stroke survivors with aphasia and their families. This award inspires me to remain committed to this line of research. Dr Elizabeth Madden, Florida State University
I am so proud to have received the Tavistock Distinguished Scholar award. It is an incredible honor to be among the select group who have received this award, and it inspires me to continue doing research that impacts the lives of people with aphasia. Dr Jessica Obermeyer, University of North Carolina at Greensboro
